What is it about?
Aortic valve prolapse is cause of incompetent aortic valve causing leak during acute rheumatic fever. This 'prolapse' in established rheumatic heart disease (RHD) is not reported. Recognition is important as it entails the possibility of aortic valve repair rather than replacement.
