What is it about?
We examined the relationships between bacterial community composition, that community's ability to consume defined compounds, and characteristics of dissolved organic matter (the free sugars, proteins, etc.) in a blackwater estuary system. Community composition and compound usage patterns were linked, but each independently was most closely associated with distinct environmental factors.
