What is it about?

This is one of the fifteen invited research papers selected from over five thousands submitted abstracts to a prestigious quadrennial conference, 7th World Congress of Biomechanics, Boston, USA, 2014, as mentioned in the conference Chairs’ abstract (DOI: 10.1007/s12195-015-0379-6) for the special issue.

Why is it important?

The editors introduced this paper as “Liu et al. use a technique termed single cell force spectroscopy (SCFS) to measure changes in the adhesive and mechanical properties of cells treated with anti-E-cadherin. These results shed new light on dynamic mechanical interactions between cell adhesion proteins and the cytoskeleton”

Perspectives

The light on dynamic mechanical interactions between cell adhesion proteins and the cytoskeleton will be of importance for developing new disease detection techniques.
