What is it about?

We wanted to hear what people with lots of medicines thought about meeting with a pharmacist to talk about or change their medicines. We wrote a survey and contacted 415 people. 4 in 10 people got back to us and most of them said the meeting helped them and answered their questions. We found that people liked how the pharmacists talked to them and also liked the information they heard.

Why is it important?

This is important because pharmacists have only recently started meeting with people in doctors' practices to talk about medicines. Showing that people were broadly positive about the meetings with the pharmacists helps to show that the work that pharmacists do is good and useful.

Perspectives

This is the first UK study to show what patients thought about a pharmacy services within GP practices. It was a pleasure to complete this working with a pharmacist working in a clinical commissioning group.
