What is it about?
This paper explores how audio producers collaborate in a studio to create music, using technology and their senses to make decisions. Its aim is to gain insight into their collaboration process to improve tools and systems for better collaboration in the future. The study emphasizes the significance of communication and shared understanding in the collaborative process and suggests ways technology can facilitate this.

Why is it important?
Our research examines the work practices of two music producers in a professional studio. We address the challenges and opportunities that arise in collaborative audio production and propose design ideas for critical listening and shared interfaces to facilitate the realization of musical ideas. Our findings are relevant for researchers and practitioners in music technology, human-computer interaction, and collaborative work.
Perspectives
Working with the music producers was an immersive experience. Sitting with them in the studio and later analyzing video records and field notes revealed insights that aren't readily apparent from what people say about what they do.
