What is it about?

This paper explains a study aimed at ascertain whether anxiety present in the assessing of intraocular pressure could affect the results obtained in the test named tonometry.

Why is it important?

The results could to identify a phenomenon which has been yet described with regard to arterial hypertension, named white coat effect. In strictu sensu. The results obtained suggest that the anxiety of a "patient" at the arrival to the "clinic" increases the intraocuñar pressure in healthy people.

Perspectives

This is only a simulation in a laboratory. The next step in this research line is to verify the results obtained in a real clinical setting
