A Preliminary Electoral Results Program in any country is a process that must be carefuly planned to produce transparent and clear results as the vote count progresses. This article reports how simulation was used to assist decision makers for the 2018 Mexican Federal Elections.

Why is it important?
An Electoral Results Program in a country like Mexico is a complex process where thousands of resources and entities must be coordinated to transparently report preliminary results of the elections. Although simulation is a powerful tool to model and analyze complex systems, we must be careful in using simulation when the system is very large, and this article illustrate the difficulties faced to simulate a very large system, and the solutions tested in 2018 Mexican Federal Elections.
