What is it about?
Volume estimation of various brain tissues are important in brain image analysis. In this paper we apply image processing methods on MRI images to detect Alzheimer's disease. The estimated brain volumes hep differential disease versus normal patients.

Why is it important?
Brain volume estimation from imaging data such as magnetic resonance images is important to diagnose neurological and psychiatric disorders. In this work, brain tissue volume reduction is estimated to detect Alzheimer’s disease (AD) using MRIs. The proposed method estimated the brain tissue volumes between the AD cognitive normal (CN) /normal (N) and AD images and clearly quantifies the brain tissue reduction.
