What is it about?

Intravenous Amphotericin B is used in the treatment of deep Mycoses. However,complications from its use is common, often toxic, interrupts treatment and sometimes fatal. The study tested the efficacy of safer oral Fluconazole in treating multiple osteomyelitis caused by disseminated African Histoplasmosis.

Perspectives

Even though the sample size is small, the remarkable good result is noteworthy. The result informs a larger trial of oral Fluconazole in the treatment of multiple osteomyelitis from disseminated African histoplasmosis.
