What is it about?

The authors have a long history (and love affair) with the city of New Orleans. Neither of us are natives; yet a decade or more of experiences with public schools prior to Hurricane Katrina provided us with insights that fly-in/fly-out researchers do not have. We used ORGANIZATIONAL THEORIES to analyze trends pre and post Katrina.

Why is it important?

The ideological debates between traditional public schools and charter schools will not change people's minds, regardless of what the data say. If this is true, then we need different theories and analyses to offer insights.
