What is it about?

Treatments to the surfaces of metals as well as other items are very important in most industries. They are used for many purposes including decoration, reflectivity, improving hardness, and preventing corrosion. This chapter itroduces and describes various industrial surface finishing processes. It includes electroplating, electroless plating, spray coating, galvanization, painting, anodizing, physical vapor deposition (PVD), and chemical vapor deposition (CVD).

Why is it important?

This is just a fundamental overview for practical surface finishing processes. To understand environmental friendly surface finishing processes and its current regulation, this is a needed information for readers.

Perspectives

This is a good simple description for readers at the fundamental stage. We postulated students as reader mainly, so the description is restricted to very fundamental stage, but the reason would lead to the simple and good description also for newbies to this discipline.
