Why is it important?
Total ankle arthroplasty has evolved to a well accepted option for ankle arthritis. There is no one implant that is appropriate for all ankle arthritis conditions. In the situations where the distal tibia bone is deficient or of poor quality a stemmed implant is one way to assure immediate and good bone fixation.
