What is it about?

This book chapter explores why people use crowd sourced information about the world around them for professional and personal reasons. We look at what influences their judgements, and show that trust in the crowd is possibly the most important influencing factor.

Why is it important?

We all know about crowd sourced information, but often we do not know if it is good to use, or if we can trust it. This chapter explored these issues and demonstrates that not only is it good enough, but you should have a high degree of trust in this valuable asset.

Perspectives

This study was the first I undertook to investigate crowd sourced information, and formed the foundation of all the research I subsequently did in this field.
