What is it about?
The tectonic significance of "Satpura orogenic trend" previously attributed to Grenville orogeny (~950 Ma) has been critically analysed. It has been demonstrated that the "Satpura orogenic trend" developed during an orogenic event at ~1600 Ma which was associated with granulite metamorphism in the Satpura region as well as the adjacent Chhotanagpur terrane. An earlier granulite event and orogenic event in the region is also recorded at ~2100 Ma.
