Why is it important?

Twenty years after its publication date, my introduction on the most significant changes in diplomacy in the second half of the twentieth century makes interesting reading, as much for what has changed as for what has not altered as much as we may think.

Perspectives

This collection was published when textbooks on diplomacy were not yet available. For me, editing the book was a way to familiarize myself with a new academic field. From today's viewpoint diplomatic studies was still in its infancy.
