What is it about?
Transparent, flexible, and high-performance energy harvesters from nature-derived materials are required for sustainable development in society. In this work, we fabricated a mechanical energy harvesting device that can serve those properties through a triboelectric effect. Using a natural material for the active layer is normally difficult because of the low output performance of the device. We thus proposed an advanced strategy to boost the output performance using the tuning of the electronic band structure.

Why is it important?
The materials used for mechanical energy harvesting are normally ceramic and polymer, which provide a high production cost and are not environmentally friendly. Hence, utilizing the natural products as found abundantly around us is highly essential.
