What is it about?

Neuroactive compounds can modulate the brain circuit and animal behavior. The precise release of neuroactive compounds is essential to the understanding of their function in the brain. We have developed an photoactive liposome that can control the release of agonist within 3 seconds by two wavelengths of light.

Why is it important?

We provide a new toolbox for optical neuromodulation. Agonist could be precisely released from liposomes to act on the target neurons under the control of light. This will be a great tool for anyone interested in molecular neuroscience studies.

Perspectives

We hope the tool can facilitate research that leads to better understanding of the brain and treatments for patients.
