What is it about?

Objective of this study is: • Reduction of energy consumption in residential buildings (Cooling and Heating Demand) • Achievement of Net/Near Zero Energy Building (nZEB) status • Reduction of CO2 emissions of building with the help of Building Energy Simulations (BES).

Why is it important?

Global warming due to the greenhouse effect has been causing gradual increase in the surface temperatures. With this effect, cooling demand in the future will rise in order to achieve thermal comfort of the occupants of any residential or commercial building. In this study, an attempt has been made to analyze the effect of passive measures on the energy consumption as they do not consume any energy rather they assist in reducing energy consumption of the building and that's what we achieved at the end. Moreover, the prospect of getting energy from renewable source like solar was also highlighted and building under study achieved the status of near or net zero energy building on an annual and monthly basis.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. This article helped in discovering more ways of performing research and in discovering more areas of research related to climate change and environment.
