What is it about?
This study shows the shape dependence of the different time constants in the Beddoes-Leishman model (BLM). A simplified BLM is proposed, using a 1-equation model for the unsteady attached-flow circulation around the airfoil compared to the traditional 2-equation model. It is found that the 1-equation model works with a similar level of accuracy as the 2-equation model, thus the number of equations and computational time in large simulations employing the Beddoes-Leishman model may be reduced.

Why is it important?
Experimental results from one database and of similar conditions were used. The shape equation used was truncated to 1 term for simplicity of the study. A larger number of terms would improve the fit to the actual airfoil shape, but dilute the effectiveness of the study since many more data sets would be needed to reasonably observe trends.
