What is it about?
VGAM is a rare vascular anomaly of the brain. We have analysed several parameters to try to identify as early as possible in pregnancy those which were associated with high risk of death or brain damage in fetuses/neonates affected with this rare anomaly, In a large series of 49 fetal cases seen in two referral hospitals, the presence of brain abnormalities other than the VGAM, cardiac overload determining tricuspid regurgitation > 2 m/s and a VGAM volume > 20 ml (20.000 cubic mms) represent prenatal indicators of poor neonatal outcome.
