What is it about?

Shape-memory alloy restrainers are known to show high dissipating and re-centering capabilities. This paper examines the performance of SMA restrainers in a column-base connection for steel structures subjected to seismic actions.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that the proposed solution can effectively mitigate seismic damage in column-base connections.

Perspectives

I hope that people find this article exciting, namely due to the fact that although the presented study is more related to steel structures, the proposed solution can also be adapted for different structural materials like concrete and timber structures.
