What is it about?
Characters of valence-band orbitals of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) have been identified experimentally; in other words, the contributions of atoms constituting CuPc molecule to the particular orbital were assigned. Further, fingerprints of both lying and standing CuPc molecules were determined in the valence band.

Why is it important?
Association of the orbitals with the constituting atoms provides a tool for an experimental verification of theoretical calculations on electronic structure of the CuPc molecule. The single line shape of valence band of CuPc would allow to distinct the molecular orientation in the grown CuPc films by photoemission. .
