What is it about?

This study shows that the H-reflex decreases in amplitude after a 10-s isometric voluntary contraction and recovers with 2-3 minutes. On the contrary, twitch potentiation appears 3-6 minutes revealing that this potentiation cannot be attributed to neural factor vie the Ia afferent pathway.

Why is it important?

This study rejects the hypothesis of neural contribution to the phenomenon of post activation potentiation.

Perspectives

We should investigate further the mechanisms responsible for the post-activation potentiation, and improve our understanding of its interaction with fatigue.
