What is it about?
Surface modification of gold nanoparticles is very important for biological applications. this articles examines the effect of surface coating of GNPs on the dispersion stability, in vivo circulation time and targeting ability.

Why is it important?
We have showed that thiol PEG derivatives bind strongly to gold surface leading increasing stability, prolong circulation time and avoid uptake by RES. additionally bisphosphonate functionalized GNPs have been accumulated in bone relative to other organs. this articles indicated that PEGylated GNPs may act as platform to attachment of different targeting moecules
