What is it about?
Quadriceps muscle deficits are persistent after ACLR and may be related to changes in the pathway from the motor cortex to the muscle (corticospinal tract). Using transcranial magnetic stimulation we examined this pathway. We found alterations were present in athletes after ACLR compared to controls.

Why is it important?
Specific interventions targeting changes along the corticospinal tract may be needed to mitigate persistent quadriceps weakness.
