What is it about?

Methane is an important GHG, here we have reviewed the study of diversity of methanogens using cultivation dependent and cultivation independent method specifically in lacustrine ecosystem.

Why is it important?

Methane is an important GHG, study of methanogens is important for studying the global warming process, wetland contribute about 20 % of green house gas. Thus it is important to study the diversity of methanogens surviving in freshwater lacustrine ecosystem.

Perspectives

Writing this review article was a great pleasure for all of us. This review article is not only about the diversity of methanogens but it is also about the study techniques which is required to study the diversity, and here the article become interesting. It also discusses the relationship of environment and diversity of methanogens and also the amount of methane released.
