What is it about?
The primary (amino acid sequence and composition) and higher order structures of peptides determines the architecture of the molecule as a whole, including its conformational specificities and in the long run its biological properties. Therefore, determination of the primary and higher order structures are the basic requisites for further progress in physicochemical and biological investigation of peptides. In this paper, we characterize the primary structure (amino acid sequence) of Ganirelix peptide in the injectable formulation using MALDI-TOF/TOF MS analytical technique. Furthermore, we report a case study of temperature effect on the primary structure of Ganirelix acetate.

Why is it important?
Temperature and humidity levels can fluctuate significantly during transportation. Changes in the manufacturing process and storage environment are extremely sensitive to peptide molecules, resulting in modifications to their primary (amino acid composition and sequence) and secondary structures. Changes in the primary and secondary structure of certain peptides can have a significant impact on their biological function, so it is critical to evaluate their primary and secondary structural integrity after any processing or storage variation.
