What is it about?
4-chlorophenol contamination of water is still of scientific importance, so several investigations have been reported for its photodegradation using different catalysts, among which spinel ferrites are interesting due to their magnetic properties that make easier the recovery of the catalyst.

Why is it important?
In this research, ZnFe2O4 spinels were synthesized by the hydrothermal method using three different acids (oxalic, citric and tartaric). Although these complexing agents, wich present similar chemical structures, have been employed in the synthesis of various materials with a particular morphology, there is no information about their use in the preparation of a specific material or about their effect on physicochemical properties and photocatalytic activity.
