What is it about?
Genes never work in isolation, and their expression is coordinated. If coordination is turned off because circumstances have changed, you will see that shared patterns in expression wil dissappear. These are robust measures for discerning classes of toxicants.

Why is it important?
Taking pairs of genes as biomarkers adds a layer of probable functionality of the pair, making the biomarkers more robust. Classification accuracy proved equal to better than other, conventional classifier technologies. AND nice networks can be inferred that add to biological understanding of the underlying process.
