What is it about?

Post partum haemorrhage , which is an excessive bleeding which takes place after delivery due to loss of tone of uterus mostly. if this bleeding does not controlled may lead to severe blood loss and to save mother , hysterectomy (removal of uterus) may have to be performed. if Uterine balloon tamponade is inserted inside the uterus, bleeding will stop by pressure of balloon tamponade.

Why is it important?

Maternal mortality is most commonly seen due to post partum haemorrhage. if uterine balloon tamponade is used at the first alarming signal of PPH. as every seconds matter if PPH start. If act at the earliest one can save mother's life and her uterus too.Every obstetrician and midwives should be trained for using uterine balloon tamponade. and it will help to bring down the maternal mortality rate of the world
