What is it about?

For this study, we developed and tested the effectiveness of the CareerSKILLS training method. This intervention aims to help young people develop their career competencies and become more employable. In two different samples, we compared an intervention group with a control group and found convincing evidence for the short-term effectiveness of CareerSKILLS.

Why is it important?

This study is important because it shows that career competencies and employability can, at least in part, be trained. It also confirms the methdology of the CareerSKILLS training, which is built on the mechanisms of self-efficacy and resilience against setbacks. The findings thus help to provide young people with concrete advice about how they can make a successful transition from education to work.

Perspectives

This was a great study to do, especially because it involved creating an intervention, performing the intervention, and the testing its effectiveness. It was very satisfying to see how happy and satisfied the participants were with the training, and how much they learned from it.
