What is it about?
Public health care systems are increasingly using restrictions to the access of health care based on the value for money of treatments. In other words, only patients for which the effectiveness is higher than specific thresholds (when compared with cost) are allowed to receive the treatment. However, there is no consensus on which measure of cost effectiveness should be used. In this article we explore the consequences of using alernative definitions.
