What is it about?
This paper reviews the characteristics of hybrid multi-infeed hvdc transmission system using indices of CFII, VSF, MIIF and TOV. The critical inductances for CFII and voltage stability improvement by MMC VSC HVDC is also analyzed. The simulation was conducted in the short and long-distance fault location on the system. The modelling and simulation of the steady state and transient performance of hybrid HVDC system are conducted in PSCAD/EMTDC. Finally, the simulation results verify the enhancement in sensitivity and stability of the dual-infeed HVDC system.

Why is it important?
The commutation failure phenomenon is one of the important criteria in LCC HVDC operation. The influence of VSC to control voltage stably leading to the commutation failure immunity is analyzed and verified by the indices and the detailed HVDC model-based PSCAD simulation.
