What is it about?
The physicochemical properties of cyclopentyl methyl ether (low toxicity, high boiling and low melting points, hydrophobicity, relatively low latent heat of vaporization, and chemical stability towards a wide range of conditions, easy drying and recovery) make it a good solvent for a vast array of reactions, spanning from the different fields of catalysis to organometallic chemistry and biphasic reactions.

Why is it important?
Solvents represent one of the major contributions to the environmental impact of fine-chemical synthesis. Therefore, the use of environmentally friendly solvents in widely employed reactions is a challenge of vast real interest in contemporary organic chemistry.
