What is it about?

The Amelogenesis Imperfecta is associated with malocclusion and usually requires an interdisciplinary treatment. Due to the patient’s refusal of orthodontic treatment, prosthodontics-based treatments alternative was considered and planned. The patient was treated with zirconia-based fixed partial den- tures, which resulted in improved occlusion, better oral health, and improved esthetic appearance.

When patients refuse orthodontic treatment in case of Amelogenesis Imperfecta with malocclusion , prosthodontic treatment can be a viable and treatment option. The major benefits for this patient were recovery of the masticatory function, an improved oral health, and esthetic appearance.

Perspectives

In this case of Amelogenesis Imperfecta that require oral rehabilitation, the prosthodontics-only based treatment may offer a less invasive, less expensive and more quicker treatment option.
