What is it about?
This study examines the relationship between internationalization and the corporate sustainability (CS) of multinational enterprises. It argues that internationalization simultaneously enhances both the CS strengths and concerns of MNEs. The paper explains that MNEs are motivated to increase their CS strength in order to overcome their liability of foreignness. However, they are also susceptible to decoupling in CS implementation due to challenges in coordination, communication, and interest alignment between headquarters and foreign subsidiaries.
