What is it about?

Medicarpin is a plant derive compound. C3H10T1/2 mouse mesenchymal stem cells were used in this study. Treatment with Medicarpin showed increased expression of brown/beige gene/protein expression.

Why is it important?

Obesity is global burden and day by day it is increasing. Scientists trying to find out a solution. Promoting brown/beige adipocyte formation is thought to be be a way to combat obesity. This is first report that medicarpin promotes brown/beige marker expression in adipocytes. although it is an in vitro experiment, further in vivo investigation might find medicarpin a potential candidate to combat obesity.
