What is it about?
Reproduction is one of the most important and complex factors in animal biology. We have shown associations between the size of the sperm and testis possibly related to pressures such as sexual competition. We used histological and morphological techniques to analyze the sperm and testis of individuals from an urban population of the frog Leptodactylus podicipinus.

Why is it important?
Our findings indicate that the investment in reproductive aspects related to sperm and testis is probably influenced by the sexual competition exhibited by the species. This represents valuable knowledge about the functional diversity in frog reproduction.
