What is it about?

The morphology of polymer blends is key factor controlling properties of materials. This work showed the preparation of NR/PP nanocomposites with light weight, high strength and good oil resistance through the morphological transformation from dispersed phase structure to a fibrillar phase-like structure assisted by nanoclay.

Why is it important?

We showed the method of fabricating high performance NR/PP nanocomposite in which the PP phase was specifically in fiber form. This led to a light weight and stronger rubber materials than conventional filled rubber products.

Perspectives

I hope that the production of NR/PP nanocomposite present in this article could be an good example of making high performance materials for other alloy systems.
