What is it about?
Industrial waste often ends up as landfills or pollutants in the water bodies. Its high time that we REDUCE the usage of synthetic materials and REUSE the byproducts of industries as much as possible. With this aim Cenosphere, one of the byproduct of thermal power plants was used for the preparation of syntactic foam cores. The prepared foam cores were used for the fabrication of the sandwich composites using epoxy and a green curative based on cardanol, the byproduct from cashew nut shell liquid. Both the core and the sandwich composites were extensively characterised and analyzed for various properties.
