What is it about?
This study is a joint effort by the International HundredK+ Cohorts Consortium (IHCC) and the Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative (DAC). It focuses on developing a new algorithm, i.e. the trans-ethnic Genomic Informed Risk Assessment (GIRA), to predict the risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD) across different ethnic groups.

Why is it important?
By incorporating a range of genetic and non-genetic elements, the model aims to more accurately predict an individual's risk of developing AD. Moreover, the study's findings on proteins related to other conditions like female infertility and autoimmune thyroiditis linked to AD risk scores can deepen our understanding of Alzheimer's disease and its connections with other health issues.
