What is it about?

This book chapter shows my personal involvement in corporate real estate and facilities management (CREM/FM) in over 40 years, and the wide range of topics that are relevant in this field, ranging from guidelines for universal access of buildings, houses and outside places till succesful corporate real estate strategies and adding value by appropriate CREM and FM. Focus point are similarities and dissimilarities between FM and CREM and groing integration between CREM and FM, evolving into FREM, (trends in) the alignment between organisational strategies and CREM/FM strategies, and relevant steps in adding value through FM and CREM.

Why is it important?

This book chapter is part of a book entitled "Facilities @ Management: Concept, Realization, Vision – A Global Perspective", edited by E. Rondeau and M. Hellerforth (2024). This book presents the origins, evolvement and growing maturity of Facility Management in various countries and a huge number of relevant FM topics.

Perspectives

The book was a nice opportunity to present my own carrier in the FM/CREM field during four decades, and to share the lessons learned from different countries in fifferent times..
