What is it about?
With growing Electricity needs, the decision of construction of new Electricity Generation Plants is crucial. The Electricity Generation Plants have different characteristics according to their cost, reliability and environmental impacts. This makes the selection of these plants to overcome growing Electricity Demand a complex task. This work is about making an optimal least cost decision with considering reliability and environmental issues in Power System for Generation Expansion Planning.

Why is it important?
Growing Electricity demand puts a challenge against Electricity Generation. The Planning of new Generation Plants is necessary and a complex task as well. Meta-Heuristic Techniques are, therefore, very beneficial for solution of such complex problems. This work is about solving this complex Generation Expansion Planning problem using novel Whale Optimization Algorithm.
