Why is it important?
This article offers a timely communication on the major advances in tornado study using an interdisciplinary approach that for the first time quantified the changes of seasonality of tornado occurrence and linked such changes to the variation of environmental covariates. This study offers the potential predictability of tornado occurrence. Extreme events are often catastrophic but very difficult to predict given their rare occurrence. The limited observation highlights the importance of the breakthrough achieved by this study.
