What is it about?
If we add 5 and 5 it should be 10 which is the expected summation effect. But because of combined positive effect it may become 15. Similarly if we add -5 and 2 , it should be -3. But if the value deviates from the expected answer, then it indicates the presence of combined effect (may be positive or negative). The similar study is done with the performance of PEMFC with respect to different kind of associated temperatures (operating, inlet-line and humidification) with the help of experiments and statistical analysis.

Why is it important?
The study about the deviation between expected summation effects and actual combined effect and its quantification helps us to understand and optimize the PEMFC accurately in actual applications rather than conventional independent effects. Higher deviation combinations of associated temperatures have to be given more importance and to be handled properly to get the maximum output from the PEMFC. Gives the correlation between experimental deviation value and conventional interaction effect of combinations too.
