This is the original published protocol for the Cochrane review of randomised controlled studies on transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for schizophrenia. Why is it important?

People with schizophrenia often have symptoms which fail to respond to anti-psychotic medication. An alternative treatment, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is emerging as a potential new therapy. However at the time this Cochrane protocol was published, there was little consensus that TMS was helpful or not with treating the symptoms of schizophrenia, and we set out to assess the literature that had been published.
