What is it about?

It is known that some adipokines released from adipose tissue are strongly associated with diabetes. We show that vaspin is affected by the consumption of different macronutrient content and how it correlates with diabetes parameters. The findings of the study were obtained from rats with Streptozotocin-induced diabetes and non-diabetic rats.

Why is it important?

Hormones, which are affected by the diet (nutrient content, frequency of meals, etc.) and affect the parameters of diabetes, establish a connection between the disease and nutrition. Vaspin provides this connection and has the potential of an indicator that can respond before the parameters affected in the pre-diabetic and diabetic period, which is widely used in the clinic.

Perspectives

I think that this article and large-scale research on the subject can reveal important results about the relationship of nutrition with diabetes. I also hope it will benefit millions of people with diabetes and those at potential diabetes risk.
