Music is part of our autobiographical and social lives; it helps us remember, enjoy, and connect. How might this thought process apply to AD and related dementias? This review accounts for how familiar music helps people with dementia joyously connect with caregivers.

Why is it important?
The process of how familiar music helps people with living with dementia connect with their caregivers is a gap in the literature. We provide a conceptual model accounting for this process. This model can assist dementia care researchers and clinicians develop existing care models and interventions to ecologically target symptom management as means to creation of prosocial atmospheres.
