What is it about?

Antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) are found in ANA-associated systemic rheumatic diseases (AASRD). ANAs can be detected by indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) or by immunoassay. We show that the positive predictive value for AASRD was higher for immunoassay than for IIF, but, depending on the disease, immunoassay might fail to detect antibodies that are detected by IIF. Combining immunoassay with IIF adds value.
