What is it about?
This study used hospital discharge data to compare the change in suicide-related hospitalizations in Arizona, a state that implemented a comprehensive behavioral health crisis response system, to Nevada, a state that had not yet implemented such a system The implementation was associated with a decrease of 2.6 suicide-related hospitalizations per 100,000 population per quarter. Despite the relative decrease, Arizona suicide-related hospitalizations increased from 29.7 per 100,000 population in Q1 2010 to 85.2 in Q1 2016 to 136.0 in Q1 2019.
